Orgs express gladness
ITANAGAR, Jun 09: The Tebw Employees Forum, an organ of Tebw Lappa Welfare Society and Nationalist Congress Party, Arunachal Pradesh Unit expressed happiness over the appointment of Dr. Rachob Taba, as Registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University. Prior to this appointment, Dr Taba was the associate professor of this university since 2005.
The Forum hoped that Taba would render his valuable service for greater academic growth and excellent performances of the university.
While expressing happiness over the appointment of Dr. Rachob Taba to the coveted post, the NCP unit hoped that he would work sincerely for the growth of the University.

Late Techi Kaya was a dedicated, committed and highly educated teacher who continued to serve the school with utmost sincerity and dedication despite his ill health, the Association said. He did his graduation from D.N. College Itanagar and thereafter joined teaching profession in 2003 under Sarva Shiksa Mission. He was loved by everyone because of his sociable nature, the Association said in a release. The education department and entire member of the society have lost a sincere and dedicated person with the death of Kaya.

Future of Arunachal lies in the hands of youth
ITANAGAR Jun 09: The future of the state is in the hands of the upcoming youths, said Industries Minister Tapang Taloh. The minister said this while addressing the valedictory function of Yuva Drishti 2012 today, a state level leadership training programme here at Dera Natung Government College.
“I believe the new team of Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress will take the party to new heights,” Taloh said and urged the youths to work for the welfare of the common masses. Taloh further expressed the hope that the new elected leaders in various levels would fulfill the expectations of the people while playing a vital role in state politics.
He said that APYC would have to work very hard keeping in mind the ensuing Municipal election which would be followed by Panchayat, parliamentary and general elections for ensuring party’s success.
MLA cum APCC vice president Takar Marde urged the youths to contribute towards the progress of Arunachal Pradesh besides striving for the cause of nation building process.
Youths are the backbone of the nation and one must develop the positive spirit for patience, discipline and time management in one’s life, he added. He further urged the youth not to be misled to join in other political parties adding that party cadres and workers must have a firm stand and work for the benefit of the Congress party. No individual is bigger than an organization, he added.

State honours NG medal winners with cash incentives

ITANAGAR, Jun 09: State Government today honoured the medal winning players of the 34th National Games (NG) held in Jharkhand in 2011 with cash incentives. The cheques were handed over to the players by Olympic Association (AOA) President Padi Richo in a simple function organized by Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) at a city based hotel here today afternoon.
The incentives were given @ Rs 3 lakh for Gold, Rs 2 lakh for Silver and Rs 1 lakh for Bronze. However, there was no taker of the Rs. 3 lakh award as none of the state team could win Gold in the Games. The state won a total of 11 medals in the Games, which included a Silver and 10 Bronze.
Chunnu Sangno, Debia Yakap, Likha Rajen, Tarh Tapak won a bronze medal apiece in Karate while Manika Devi, Prakash Dorjee and Tilok Budhatoki won a Bronze each in Boxing.
In Lawn Bowl, the pair of Bima Bora and Parismita Gogoi won a Bronze. The Bora and Gogoi duo along with Jitu Deori and Nirjumoni Deori won a Silver in four players team event. B.R. Singh and LP. Singh also bagged a Bronze medal to take Arunachal’s total medal tally to 11.
Speaking on the occasion, Richo advised the players to continue to play with same tempo and spirit to win many more awards. He said that once the sports policy is implemented, it will help streamline the sports activities in the state. He informed that the committee constituted for drafting the sports policy was giving a final shape to it. In his brief speech, Sports and Youth Affairs Asst. Director Ramesh Lingi urged the AOA to put extra efforts to produce more quality players since the responsibility lies on it. AOA has a major role to play in successful implementation of any sports related schemes of the SYA department, Lingi said.
Describing it a momentous occasion for sports fraternity in the state, AOA vice president Taba Tedir advised the players to maintain regular practice for further improvement of their performance.
Earlier, AOA Secretary General G. Doke welcomed all the medal winning players and other dignitaries.

Despite the inflow of tourists and earning of maximum revenue, still there are lot of things to be done. It has been noticed that infrastructure built for tourism promotion has not been used leading to wastage of public money. Two tourist lodges, one constructed near Nag Mandir in West Kameng district and other at Jung in Tawang district are glaring examples of how public money are being misused. While the construction of tourist lodge at Jung was completed years ago, till date it lies unused. Domestic animals have made it their ‘home’. The other lodge near Nag Mandir has not been completed and it lies abandoned. From distance, it looks like a haunted house. In both the projects public money worth crores were spent.
The big question is that why the tourism department is remaining as mute spectator
over these two failed projects? For a very important tourist circuit like that of

A very important factor, which tour operators and department of tourism has ignored, is to give prior information about weather condition of Tawang. Often tourists coming from low altitude area face serious health problem upon arrival at Tawang which is located 12000 ft above sea level.
“Majority of tourists suffer from acute mountain sickness, pulmonary edema etc. Hospital should have trained personnel to deal with such cases. Tawang district hospital does not possess equipments and trained manpower to tackle such cases,” told a doctor of the district hospital. He added, “Tourists should gather proper information before visiting Tawang. Also tour operators and tourism department should provide all the necessary information to the tourists. They come here for enjoyment and it would tragic if their dead body goes back from Tawang.”

Assam CM assures security to NHPC
Guwahati, Jun 09: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today assured 'total security' for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) workers engaged in the construction of Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric project (LSHP) and said an expert committee will be formed soon to study its downstream impact.

It said the Govt never denied the facts that the excess expenditure has been done by the then CE (P) EZ. Instead of initiating inquiry the Govt has taken it very lightly and closed the matter thereby giving clean chit to the officer, it said.
The ARF is not against any individual but is against the corrupt practices, the Forum said adding that matter has been placed before the competent agency to investigate and to unearth the truth. Let the law to take its own course, the Forum said.
